Special Project. Sliding Door for West side storage and access under Deck
Spree. This sliding door purposely looks simple and easy. Does not look like anything at all. That was the point.
Upon closer inspection, you can see that the panel slides within a 1.5" channel. I had to think for about 2 weeks about what can slide and fit into that space.
The barn door hardware would not fit and it is designed to be on the outside. Not good for an outdoor application. So we custom cut and fabricated garage door channels and cut down the floating axels the four (4) bearing that allow the panel to hang and slide.
These axles are floating. they allow a garage door to shimmy left and right. We could not have that. We needed to cut a thread into each axle and then attach a nut to each of the four so that the gate could hang.
